Today, was a great day spending it with my oldest daughter, Heather.

We signed all the paperwork for the venue and went wedding dress shopping.

So many pretty dresses, now to make the final decision. The venue even has leopard chairs!

Now, all the fun begins, planning her special day.

I think I have been grounded too long

I have been home for the last two days going on three, and have actually accomplished many taskes. One of them wanting to re-do everything in my house. After being at the most amazing show, my mind is going wild. I think this kitchen belongs in my house. Maybe add a few cabinets and paint the existing ones with annie sloan paint, a new floor, and I do like those lanterns. It's amazing that when you stay home how much money you can think of spending. I need to get back working, Snow go away!

I could also use a new laundry room as I have been doing load after load. My laundry room is

in the dungeon of our basement. Maybe I could talk my husband into moving the whole operation upstairs and make something cute like this. We'll see, I probably will just have to look at pictures for awhile.

Have a fun day at home, as for me it doesn't happen too often.

New from Bella Notte Linens

The first thing we do when we get to Atlanta is immediately go to the 10th floor in building 1 and check out what Bella Notte has come up with. This is where we set the presence for the shop and work around their latest. This year they came out with 2 beautiful colors, Rose Quartz and Pacific and one new fabric. This bed here is mixed with Rose Quarts silk velvet (headboard) petal and pebble.

This bed is covered in charcoal, pebble, and flax. They did come out with new fabric which is a tone on tone, taking the place of peony.

Now, this is the new Pacific. A very beautiful grayed blue green.

They have it mixed here with Sand and White. For all you beach lovers, this is the one for you.

promoting their book "Patina Style". Lucky me, I got a signed book.

It was great to be able to meet them in person as I love their style and their book.

On Friday, the holiday home tour in Kirkland will happen once again. We are especially excited as this year our decorating team at

Haley's Cottage will be helping with one of the homes. We have some great ideas to add to the already beautiful home of

Lauren and Stanley.

All the home owners have worked very hard to make this year a great display of Holiday Decorations.

Bring your girlfriends, and make a day of it!

Celebrations is a self-guided tour of local homes beautifully decorated for the holidays, focused in Kirkland. Ticket holders will be able to tour six unique homes.

The Assistance League of the Eastside sells about 1000 tickets annually and the money raised benefits survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence and provides clothing for children in the Bellevue, Lake Washington, and Northshore school district.

As you drive up Pine Street in Snohomish, you can't help but notice

Mindi and Jeff's beauitifully lit house. They probably have the prettiest lights in town.

Mindi was gracious enough to have me come over and see her holiday decor.

I am sure this is the way the french decorate for the holidays!

As you enter, you can't help but notice this huge, I mean huge urn filled with lights. This photo doesn't even compare to what it looks like in person. I have been hearing about this urn, but was very surprised when I saw it in person.

This is Mindi's chandelier tree as it only has crystal prisims on it.

From outside, this is the tree downstairs.

Another little tree in the living room. Simple, but elegant!

This tree also faces the street upstairs with just little turquoise glass balls

along with some white feathered trees.

Of course they have a french looking 20 lb cat.

Look at his mustache a goatee, he is quite handsome!

A Paint Transformation for Haley's Cottage

Here is our new pretty pink wall. Debra from Decorative Finishes gave us a new

facelift by just painting a few walls. This was done using a vintage pink with a stencil of charcoal and taupes.

It is amazing!

When you enter the store, the wall is now painted cast iron from our

Authentic Home Paint collection. The color is unbelievable!

Debra also painted on each side of our wood wall and it really made the wood pop.

It's nice to have someone get you out of your comfort level.

Our Smoke wall is now Pink!

It all started when we saw pink at the Aidian Gray showroom.

Our counter used to be white beadboard. Now it looks like

re-cycled wood, thanks to Debra. Shades of grays and browns.

Now we get to get ready for Holiday setup!

A fun night at Monica's

For those of you who visited our booth on Friday evening at the Ruffles and Rust show last month,

we had these amazing pillows of apple pie at our booth, made by our great customer

Monica Hart.

So... Monica invited Haley's Cottage and up to 10 of our customers to her home here in Kirkland

to have a little baking session and to learn her technique of making these delicious Petite Pies.

First, a little something to sip & snack on...

then we will get baking.

We will roll out some

orange and vanilla bean flavored dough,

mix up some orange & vanilla laced apple filling

and create little pillows of pie, topped with sugar

crystals.

A few petite pies to sample...a few to take home.

They are a fun holiday party dessert idea.

I just got the before and after's of Violet's coffee table

using our every so popular Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

Violet used the paris gray with a dark wax on top.

The only thing I would do different is use the Annie Sloan

Soft Dark Wax and then finish it with her clear wax. I think it might be a

easier technique. Other than that it turned out beautiful. Here is a link to her

Only 30 days until Haley's Wedding!

In the last couple of days, we have been finalizing all of Haley's Wedding Details.

It seems so far off when you start planning a wedding and now all of a sudden it is 30 days away.

So we finalized some of the details on Monday. The jewelry from Tippy Stockton. We picked out some of the vintage findings, pearls, and a bit of bling. I can't wait to see the final creation.

Yikes, too many decisions from this very creative girl.

But... I think we got it handled.

Haley had her dress fitting on Monday, of course she had to have it taken in.

Remember those skinny days!

We headed to Hidden Meadows last night to figure out a couple of things.

So many decisions! Table linens, how many tables, decor, placement of candles,

the list goes on and on. Hopefully the sun will shine on September 30th and they can have their wedding under the gazebo.

Well, my mind is going crazy on all the details, wish me luck and an abundance of energy.

Back from Hot Vegas!

When we arrived at midnight, we took this picture from our hotel room.

Of course, we stayed at the Paris which I totally recommend. The most comfortable bed ever.

The Paris also has amazing restaurants, almost a little city there, all indoors.

Well, we ordered this amazing bed complete with headboard, foot board and rails.

Even nail heads! We ordered it in a washed burlap.

This is a new headboard program that you have a choice of different styles of headboards.

Another cute complete bed but with distressed black wood frame.

Love this smaller table and these darling tufted velvet chairs.

Now, this is the daddy of sofa's. 108" long with lots of tufting.

We may have to order this soon, just need space to put it in.

This dining chair has two different fabrics, I love the one on the back with the crown.

New dining table from Dovetail with the greatest dining chairs. This will be our next dining table!

Just a great swag that I may have to copy to put on our Christmas Tree, very easy to make.

We found lots of great items for the shop and had a good time with my daughter Heather

despite the 100 degree weather. We go back to Vegas in a couple weeks for the clothing show,

Baby Sophie is Born

Welcome Baby Sophie! This is my son Casey and the new addition to his family. Sophie is just a little butter ball weighing 8lbs.7 oz. Stephanie is doing fantastic and had a very easy delivery compared to the last two. Can't wait to get my hands on her, she is the cutest!

Look at this hair! I think the first one in our family that has hair.

She will be so cute in all her hair accessories that she has gotten for gifts.

Sophie is only about 3 hours old. Definately the Sullivan nose!

They will all be home today.

Atlanta Photos Part 2

Yesterday in Atlanta was great, alot of locals went home so we got more attention from

vendors which isn't always good, but we found alot of great things on our last day.

Love this umbrella chandelier, also comes in white.

Looks old, but actually a reproduction.

For most of you who know me I am a pink girl at heart.

So when I saw this pink wall with re-claimed wood items,

I immediately said, lets paint the wall pink.

So just with seeing this wall, we ordered our Christmas with some pink plus some other little bits of pink.

This beautiful chandelier will probably make a home at Heathers. Sconces to match. Love the hammered iron as it really looks old.

New furniture line we found yesterday. Great large heavy pieces. I love the gray inside of this one.

Love these pillows, part of my pillow feddish.

I have been back now 12 hours and in the shop for 2 and I want to tear the shop apart and re-do

Heather and I are in Atlanta at the home and gift show that happens twice a year.

Here are a few pictures of some of our finds. Bella Notte (above) is looking amazing with lots and lots of textures and a few new fabrics.

We fell in love with these shadow box frames with sand dollars and sea fans.

After a red eye flight, Heather was a little silly!

Old looking buckets made into lighting, love them.

A great fixture for over a dining table or island.

This coffee table has wheels and drawers and reclaimed wood.

Love this iron dining table with a white wash reclaimed wood top. Even the chairs are amazing.

I am on a lamp mission

I even ordered 3 of the top middle for my little darlings.

A Shower for our New Little Princess

Last Saturday we went to Stephanie's Baby Shower for their future addition, "Sophie".

Their was pink everywhere! Lot's of fresh flowers, even pink pretzels and beautiful pink cupcakes.

Stephanie was so excited opening up all the girly gifts. And boy did she get alot of gifts. Her friends and family were very generous to welcome this special little girl. Stephanie is probably the cutest pregnant person ever. She looked so cute for the shower.

We just got new photos for the new fabrics and colors for Bella Notte. I love

everything about this bed as these are my favorite colors. This is the new satin coverlet.

Graphite is one of best selling colors. It looks like we are getting a new floral

as shown in the small pillow. Can't wait to see it in person.

As most of you know, my son and daughter-in-law are having a baby girl

in about 6 weeks. For Mother's Day, I had Tippy Stockton create this darling

necklace for Stephanie. The beads are pink with a vintage tag with #3 and lots of cute little charms.

Last week when they had their pregnancy family pictures taken, she wore her cute little necklace.

We are very excited to have a girl coming after these two darling little guys.

I am so proud of my son and his precious family.

Engagement Chicken?

This morning on Martha Stewart they had Glamour Magazine's new cookbook

"100 Recipes Every Woman Should Know"

Rumor has it this easy-to-make roast chicken with ultra-crisp skin and subtle lemon flavor will inspire your boyfriend to pop the question. Serve with Baked New Potatoes for a marriage-worthy meal.

So here it is. Maybe pass this on to anyone you know who is trying to get that man to commit.

I am planning on giving this book to my girls for their show gifts.

1 (4-pound) chicken

1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 whole lemons, plus 1 sliced crosswise, for garnish

1 tablespoon coarse salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Fresh herbs, such as 4 sprigs rosemary, 4 sprigs sage, or 8 sprigs thyme

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees with rack set in upper third.

2.Remove giblets from chicken and rinse chicken inside and out with cold water. Set chicken, cavity-side down, in a colander to drain for 2 minutes. Pat chicken dry with paper towels and place breast-side down in a medium roasting pan fitted with a rack; pour lemon juice all over chicken, inside and out. Season chicken, inside and out, with salt and pepper.

3.Pierce whole lemons three times with the tines of a fork; place pierced lemons inside cavity. Using kitchen twine, truss chicken to enclose. Transfer roasting pan to oven and reduce temperature to 350 degrees; roast for 15 minutes.

4.Remove roasting pan from oven and, using tongs or two wooden spoons, turn chicken breast-side up. Return chicken to oven and cook until a thermometer inserted into the thigh reaches 180 degrees and juices run clear when thigh is pierced with a fork, 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.

5.Let chicken stand 15 minutes before carving. Transfer carved chicken to a serving platter and pour juices from roasting pan over chicken. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh herbs; serve.

I think I can even make this, looks really easy!!

I just picked up my 425 Magazine today, and our good customer Victoria Fanning had her beautiful home featured for this issue. We were able to do a custom table runner in burlap with linen flowers at each end to fit her table in time for the shoot. We had 48 hour notice! Her home is amazing with lot's of specialty touches. If you need a custom runner just send me an e-mail and we can get one ordered for you.

Happy Baby Pink Day!

This morning I got up bright and early and met my son Casey and his wife Stephanie and boys

in downtown Seattle for Stephanie's doctor appointment. I couldn't wait for this appointment and didn't even sleep last night with the expectation of boy or girl. Now they have two darling little guys that are 2 and 3 and not that another darling little boy wouldn't be nice, but Stephanie (and me of course) were really hoping for a little girl. We were in the appointment not more than a couple of minutes when the technician said it's definitely a "Girl" . Little Stephanie was so excited she started to cry. I don't know if it really hit her yet. But... tonight after work I am headed over there to babysit those darling little guys so mom and dad can celebrate. All I can think about is helping decorate a pink nursery.

My mind is going crazy. At last a girly nursery.

Northwest Garden Show

This last Thursday evening, my friend and I went to the Northwest Garden Show

at the Seattle Convention Center. If you need something fun to do, I highly suggest in going.

It really puts you in the gardening mood despite the snow.

I loved this bird above, check out the crown on top of her head. The whole booth is full of these cute birds.

Probably one of my favorite booths as I am a huge Christensen's fan.

My Ruffles & Rust Treasure

Last Night I attended the Ruffles & Rust Show and truly had a great time.

I ran into so many friends and vendors that I haven't seen for a long time.

My friends Cindy,Donna and I shopped until 8:00 and then we hit Red Robin, we are quite the partiers!

I got the cutest bench with just the right amount of chippy blue paint for the front of the shop from Lisa. I put my cute little pillow from mysweetsavannah and wha la!!

I hope you all got a chance to go and find some treasures of your own.

Bookshelves are not just for Books

We just got these great industrial looking bookshelves in the shop.

Of course, they have everything on them including a few books.

We originally got them for our linens. The best part on this one is that it has wheels.

Just sold, but we can get another!

This bookcase is a ladder type with four shelves.

Also industrial looking with reclaimed wood and metal.

I love the mix.

The best part is that you can put alot of items on these bookshelves without taking too much space.

I am anxious to put one in our office at home.

It's been a month

I just noticed that I have been absent from blogging for a month. Well... it hasn't been a good start for 2011 for our family. First my husband has been very ill with a blood and muscle illness which we are still waiting for a final diagnosis. Two days later, I was called to California due to my younger brother's health failing with his fight with cancer. He made it 3 days until he lost his fight. I have to say, it was the worse thing I have ever witnessed and pretty much torture to watch. As much expected, my mom didn't take this too well and was in ICU for a week with heart and infection issues. I did slip away for a couple of days for the Atlanta gift show(a nice brain break) and then went back to California for the funeral. Thank you everyone who came out to celebrate his life. It was amazing to see all his child hood friends that I hadn't seen for 35 or so years. Thanks to my good friends for all their support. I think I am coming out of Twilight Zone and will be back to normal things very shortly.

A True Miracle Treatment

For my whole life I have stuggled with naturally frizzy hair. Even in High School, I elected to take indoor PE, just so my hair wouldn't frizz, and that's living in Southern California. Well.... you can imagine what I go through everyday living in the Northwest. For those who know me, I usually have my hair up mainly due to the frizz. One of customers, Lindsay from So Zo Hair Salon in Kirkland did a miracle treatment on my hair.

"Brazilian Blowout". Truly it is the best thing I have ever done. My hair stays smooth all day, even when I go out to walk the dogs during the day. A Haley's Cottage Re Do

This weekend we decided to start early with flipping the store. It's such a huge job with the size of the store and the size of our furniture. We had to take alot of it outside in order to do it. I am still pooped, but happy with the results. This year we are doing Christmas in mainly white and silver. We purchased the cutest ornaments with lots of birds and crowns. So, that is our theme this year, Birds and Crowns. We normally don't set up this early, but we were so excited about our ornaments, we decided to do it now. We will be having our open house the day after Thanksgiving. We are also participating in the Home Tour in Kirkland for the Children's Auxiliary. More info to follow....

Our bed is dressed in white ruffles this year, and lots of pillows.

These are the cutest Reindeer you will ever see complete with fur coats.

Lots and Lots of mercury glass! Still lots more to get out.

A big Thank You to Timi for putting on an amazing show. It was so fun to see some of our old customers who have followed us around for years. It's always so fun to set up but not to fun to tear down.

A big thank you to my friend Cindy who helped me with both and then even helped me unload the truck in the rain and took in the store. Now that's a good friend! My daughters were great and they even dressed up on Friday night. On the way there, Haley said to Heather, how does Mom get us to do these things, and then laughed.

Unfortunately, my camera is on the fritz so my pictures didn't come out.

I wanted to introduce you to the most amazing soap I have tried. The funny thing is that I have carried this line for a couple of years and love the packaging and the fragrances but really never tried it for myself. My daughter Heather is the rep for this line and said Mom, have you tried this soap. So.... I brought a bar home and omg. It is the most luxurious soap I have ever used. This is a new frangrance called White Hyndrangea. Along with the soap is a body butter. Hope you will try it for yourself, don't just look at the pretty packaging.

A Beautiful Wedding at my Son's Home

My son Casey had a beautiful wedding at his home for his good friends. He prepared for this for months, making sure every plant was in place and probably re-planted his lawn 3-4 times. He built a French Villa on 2 acres so you can imagine the size of the back yard. The wedding turned out perfect with all the bells and whistles. It was a vintage circus wedding theme with lots of amazing decor and props. The tent was enormous with different colors of ribbons and drapery panels.

They ended the evening with fireworks that was as well orchestrated as the 4th of July.

What a fun and well planned wedding!
